George S Hay & Company Insurance Brokers based in Elgin was founded by George Hay in September 1968 and has been built on the vast knowledge of its staff to become firmly rooted in the local business community. When the business was started in 1968 it was the first insurance brokerage in Moray. Initially business was predominantly based on motor insurance but over the years the base extended into the farming and business community. Now the business includes all aspects of the commercial community while still including a large personal portfolio of private household and motor insurance. The original concept of personal attention is still maintained both for personal and commercial business and visits to the premises of commercial clients is regarded as a most important aspect of knowing and fulfilling clients' requirements. George Hay, now a consultant, still maintains an active role in the firm although the management is in the hands of Colin Macdonald and Jenny Hay. Senior Partner, Colin Macdonald is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner of the Chartered Insurance Institute and has almost 30 years experience in all aspects of insurance and specialises in commercial and farms insurances. The other partner, Jenny Hay has been in the firm for 15 years and provides expertise in personal lines and general insurance and also controls the finances of the firm. In addition George S Hay & Co is fortunate to have two very experienced general insurance administrators. Sally Meldrum has been with the company for 14 years and has a wealth of general and commercial experience. Sally has been and continues to be a very important part of the continued success of our company. Claire Cameron joined the company in January 2005 from the insurer market and adds additional commercial insurance experience to the company As professional and independent intermediaries, George S Hay & Company provides up to date and relevant advice for their clients' on all aspects of insurance cover with much of their new business being obtained through personal recommendation.
