George S Hay & Company Insurance Brokers based in Elgin was founded by George Hay in September 1968 and has been built on the vast knowledge of its staff to become firmly rooted in the local business community.

When the business was started in 1968 it was the first insurance brokerage in Moray. Initially business was predominantly based on motor insurance but over the years the base extended into the farming and business community while still including a large personal portfolio of private household and motor insurance.

The original concept of personal attention is still maintained both for personal and commercial business and visits to the premises of commercial clients is regarded as a most important aspect of knowing and fulfilling clients’ requirements.

George Hay has now retired from the firm, and the management is in the hands of Colin Macdonald . Colin is the Sole Proprietor of the business and is a Chartered Insurance Broker of the Chartered Insurance Institute and has over 30 years experience in all aspects of insurance and specialises in commercial and farm insurances.

In addition George S Hay & Company is fortunate to have two very experienced general insurance administrators and also a general office administrator.

Sally Meldrum has been with the company for 17 years and has a wealth of general and commercial experience. Sally has been and continues to be a very important part of the continued success of our company.

Lesley McKay has recently joined the company in January 2009, and brings with her over 20 years general insurance experience.

Linda Cruikshank joined the company in April 2007, and previously had 35 years experience in the banking industry, assisting Colin with Compliance and undertaking general office administration.
